A downloadable twine template

So you want to make a Visual Novel in Twine.

This example is taken from Asher, a mystery visual novel I wrote. I thought it would be fun to combine the story branching of a visual novel with the poetry of hypertext. I certainly enjoyed writing this version of Asher with twine, but I didn't remember how I did it.

So I cobbled together this example for you.

It's really quite simple. Just some inline HTML. There's also some extra CSS to make it look a little better on mobile devices.

It uses Harlowe format.

Please feel free to use it how you wish. Credit is not required. There are ZERO restrictions on monetization or any other use of this template. However, you may need to look at Twine's or Harlowe's individual licenses.

Feel free to take the template and improve upon it. If you do, please consider sharing a link in the comments below so others can see it, too.

Also feel free to comment below if you need help and I'll see what I can do. However, there's a lot of great (and probably better) options for support out there:  RedditForums.

The story, character, and background art in Asher: A Visual Novel is copyright ©2018-2024 S. A. Welland. All Rights Reserved. Use of this template or downloading Asher does not grant permission to use my artwork.
